Centerton’s library program is unique.  The atmosphere is enchanting and features a fantasy theme.  Paula Wildt, our librarian, uses puppetry and a vivid imagination to challenge the students to “read to achieve”.  Centerton utilizes the Accelerated Reading Program to monitor each student’s progress.  The students read a book, then take a short comprehension test to determine if they retained the information they read in the book.  This program has become a huge success.  To learn more about the Accelerated Reading Program to www.renlearn.com.  This web site explains the program and enables you to view the quiz shop to check if a particular book is an AR selection.  You may also check the reading level of each title and the possible points earned on each test.  To see the list of AR tests that Centerton currently has available, double click the highlighted Accelerated Reader Quiz List at the top of this page.  Many new books have been purchased recently and our selection is growing rapidly.

Mrs. Wildt is a puppeteer and she uses her puppets to constantly reinforce the importance of reading for enjoyment.  Currently residing in the “Enchanted Library” are Pauline the library witch, Houston Crow, Princess Chloe, Bob the Troll and his friend Tom, Pinocchio, Larry Library and his sister Margo, Polly Biddle the library nurse, Ma and Pa, Castle Centerton’s royal family, and many more.  Mrs. Wildt is self-proclaimed royalty and the students refer to her as the “Library Queen”.  Mrs. Wildt reads daily to the children and previews many of the new book selections by reading the first few pages, which sparks their curiosity in the new title.
