CONGRATULATIONS TO BROOKLYN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!Brooklyn Elementary received a grant from the USDA to fund the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program in their school for the 2007/2008 school year.  The program will begin August 20, 2007 and will end in May 2008.  The program is designed to provide students and staff with healthy snack alternatives as well as educate them on the benefits of good nutrition and healthy eating habits.  Students and staff will be offered free fruits and vegetables in their classrooms during the school day.  Students will be offered various choices from traditional favorites such as apples and carrots, to the occasional chance to try items that they may not have tried before, such as kiwi and turnips.  We are very pleased that Brooklyn Elementary was chosen to participate in this opportunity.
