Sample of the Season

Each of the four seasons is unique and each provides an optimum growing time for fruits and vegetables.  When produce is in season it reaches its peak of flavor.  We often associate specific fruits and vegetables with the season.  Berries and melons remind us of summertime, pumpkins and persimmons bring memories of fall.  The MSD of Martinsville Food Service Department would like our students to experience the season and the produce that it has to offer.  Each week we will offer our students a "Sample of the Season".  Students will be given the opportunity to try different fruits and vegetables that are in their peak growing season.  We look forward to providing our students with a variety of healthy choices and introducing them to some new and exciting flavors.
