SRP Freeholder Committee Meeting Minutes

Benton Township Senior Citizens Building

April 12, 2006

 

The April 12, 2006 meeting of the SRP Freeholder Committee was held at the Benton Township Senior Citizens Building and was called to order by Will Weber at 5:40 pm.

 

Committee Members present:  William Weber, Larry Polley, Gene Niednagel, Mike Sonneborn, Jim Scrimager, Dave Keller, Ed Roehling, Rob Casserotti, Mike Grady, and Boyd Sturdevant.  Also present: Marty Mann, LLCD Chairman; Dave Hobson, LLCD Vice-Chairman; Bob Madden, Manager; Aunna Huber, Board Recorder; and Rachel Atz, CBU Representative.  Absent:  Mark Moser, Hank Berman, Roger Watkins, and Gail Tala.

 

 

I.             INTRODUCTORY REMARKS

·         Weber wanted to publicly thank Marty Mann, Bob Madden, Aunna Huber, and Image Matters, Inc. for aiding in creating the GIS prioritization map of Lake Lemon.

 

II.          APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

MOTION BY SONNEBORN TO APPROVE THE MARCH 8, 2006 MINUTES AS WRITTEN.  SECONDED BY POLLEY.  ALL “AYES.”  MOTION CARRIED.

 

III.   PRIORITIZATION OF SERVICE AREAS

·         Each subdistrict committee member(s) prioritized the service areas within their subdistrict(s) using the bathymetric/sedimentation map provided by Image Matters, Inc.

·         Prioritization of service areas (see attached)

·         Note discussion of service areas 131 and 132 (see attached from J. Scimager)

o        J. Scrimager, District VI committee member would like to take south part of 131 and north part of 132 to create one service area for immediate dredging.

 

MOTION BY SONNEBORN TO APPROVE PRIORITIZATION SITES BY SUBDISTRICTS, WHICH WILL BE RECOMMENDED TO THE LLCD BOARD.  DISTRICT V PRIORITIES WILL BE DECIDED BY DISTRICT BOARD MEMBER.  SECONDED BY STURDEVANT.  ALL “AYES.”  MOTION CARRIED.

 

IV.        DISCUSSION OF DISPOSAL SITES

·         H. Polling has private site 1.8 miles east of Little Africa off South Shore Drive, which will be looked at by Manager and Board Chairman.

·         Site close to water is desirable to avoid high trucking costs, such as Little Africa.

·         City is hesitant to make decision regarding city property without environmental community input.

·         Meeting scheduled with mayor to discuss city property options within the next several weeks.

·         Another private 6 acre site owned by T. Terry is 1.4 miles from the lake off Low Gap Road, which will be further investigated.

·         The bidding/contract process dates are as follows:

o        Bid specs sent out immediately after May Board meeting.

o        Contract must be signed by June Board meeting.

 

 

V.           NEXT MEETING

·         The next SRP meeting will be held at the Benton Township Senior Citizens Building at 5:30 p.m. on May 10, 2006.

 

MOTION BY SONNEBORN TO ADJOURN AT 7:15 P.M.  SECONDED BY ROEHLING.   ALL “AYES.”  MOTION CARRIED.
