ANNUAL
MEETING
The February 2, 2005 Annual Meeting of the Lake
Lemon Conservancy District was held in the third floor meeting room of the
Monroe County Courthouse and was called to order by Vice-Chairman Larry Ritter
at 6:00 P.M.
Board Members present: Marty Mann, Larry Ritter, Dennis Friesel, Dave Kory, Rex Taylor,
Tom Kelly and Dave Hobson. Also
present: Bob Madden, LLCD Manager; Coleman Smith, LLCD Lake Biologist; Rachel
Atz (CBU); and John Langley (CBU) and Freeholder Members (see sign-up sheets
attached).
OPENING COMMENTS (Ritter):
·
Ritter announced the closing of
the polls for the District I Director’s position.
·
Ritter welcomed all present to
the 10th Annual LLCD meeting. Ritter introduced several of the
founding LLCD Board members in attendance: Earl Eberle, Bud Howard, and Dave
Ison to the audience.
·
The monthly LLCD Board meetings
are held at the IU Cyclotron Facility on Milo B. Sampson Road, Bloomington. All
meetings start at 6:00pm and are open to the public. All freeholders are
encouraged to attend.
·
Ritter also acknowledged the
passing of Dick Smith, long time lake resident.
APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 4, 2004 MEETING MINUTES (Ritter):
KORY MOTIONED TO ACCEPT THE FEBRUARY 4, 2004 MEETING
MINUTES AS WRITTEN. KELLY
SECONDED. ALL “AYES”. MOTION CARRIED.
TREASURER’S REPORT (Friesel):
SEDIMENTATION REMOVAL PROGRAM (Mann):
·
Mann reviewed the progress and goals of the SRP
1.
Protect the long term health of the lake
2.
Improve lake access for freeholders
3.
Improve boating safety
·
Mann stated the SRP planning stage will involve a scientific process for
decision making.
·
In March, LARE will award grant money to successful applicants. The LLCD
hopes to receive $100,000 to use for the SRP.
·
Coleman Smith, Lake Biologist, gave a brief presentation about the LLCD’s
GIS. (see attached)
LAKE MANAGER’S REPORT (Madden):
·
Madden gave a
presentation reviewing the history of the Lake Lemon Conservancy District.
·
Madden also referenced
the 2004 Annual Report, reviewed the status of the 2004 goals, and discussed
the 2005 goals (see attached).
PUBLIC COMMENT:
·
Ed Roehling
congratulated the Board on working through the SRP process and he hopes to see
dredging on the lake soon.
· Todd Terry and Bill Roehling were the lucky winners of the drawing for a 2005 boat pass.
·
Mann presented Dave Kory
with a framed photograph of a Lake Lemon Bald Eagle for appreciation for his
hard work and dedication to the LLCD Board of Directors. Barb Ritter was
presented with a framed photograph of a Lake Lemon Bald Eagle as the Volunteer
of the Year for numerous hours invested in assisting the LLCD office with many
tasks over the years.
ELECTION
OF DISTRICT DIRECTORS AND 2004 BOARD OFFICERS:

Mann announced the
results of the District I election. Bruce Cassal will be the new District I
Director.
·
Tom Kelly ran unopposed
for District IV Director, therefore will begin a new term.
·
Kelly motioned to
nominate all current officers for another one (1) year term. Hobson seconded.
All “ayes.” Motion passed
RITTER MOTIONED TO ADJOURN. FRIESEL SECONDED. ALL
“AYES.” CARRIED. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 8:15 P.M.
