Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Benton Township Senior Citizens Building

July 25, 2007

 

The July 25, 2007 meeting of the Lake Lemon Conservancy District was held at the Benton Township Senior Citizens Building and was called to order by Chairman Marty Mann at 6:10 p.m.

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Marty Mann, Rex Taylor, Barb Ritter, Bruce Cassal, Dave Hobson, Dennis Friesel, and Tom Kelly.  ALSO PRESENT:  Bob Madden, Manager; Scott McWhorter, Board Recorder; and LLCD Freeholders (see attached sign-in sheet).  ABSENT:  CBU Representative, Rachel Atz

 

I.                   OPENING COMMENTS (Mann)

 

·        Mann thanked all freeholders for attending the meeting.

·        This meeting will discuss the 2008 proposed budget.

o       The conservancy has exhausted all grants.

o       Tax revenue will be used to supplement cost of the Sediment Removal Program and increase funding for Weed Control.

·        The continuation of the Sediment Removal Program is vital to improving and sustaining the pristine condition of Lake Lemon for future lake users.

 

II.                DISCUSSION – 2008 PROPOSED BUDGET (Friesel)

 

·        Dennis Friesel presented the 2008 proposed budget line by line (see attached).

§         The 2008 proposed budget would increase taxes by one hundred percent.

§         The proposed budget would increase funds for sediment removal and weed control.

·        Madden stated that boating fees may increase in 2008.

·        Friesel reported that the conservancy has not received the Marina/Club

Agreement from Schell Marina, LLC.

§         Mann added that the conservancy is now in a pre-litigation stage with the Schell Marina, LLC.   

·        The conservancy has not received Brown County taxes.  The 2005 payable in

2006 from Brown County should arrive in August 2007.

·        Board would like Madden to ask city to consider repairing the Riddle Point Park Shelter House chimneys.  Kelly stated that it has become a safety hazard.

 

FRIESEL MOTIONED TO ACCEPT THE 2008 PROPOSED BUDGET AS A TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR PUBLICATION PURPOSES.  KELLY SECONDED MOTION. ALL “AYES.”  MOTION CARRIED.

 

III.             PUBLIC COMMENT

 

·        None

IV.             NEW BUSINESS / CORRESPONDENCE FOR FUTURE AGENDA

 

·        2008 Proposed Budget Hearing will be August 29th, 6:00 p.m. at the Benton Township Senior Citizens Building.

·        2008 Proposed Budget Adoption will be September 19, 2007, 6:00 p.m. at the Benton Township Senior Citizens Building.

 

 

V.                ADJOURNMENT

 

KELLY MOTIONED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.   FRIESEL SECONDED THE MOTION.  ALL “AYES.”  MOTION CARRIED.  MEETING ADJOURNED AT 7:30 P.M.
