Staff Changes We welcome back all of our staff and students. We trust all had a restful vacation and are looking forward to an exciting new school year. Mrs. Baxter and Miss Semon have left Paragon to pursue teaching elsewhere. Miss Stephanie Maxwell is our new 1st Grade teacher and Miss Elizabeth VanHandel will be teaching Title I students. Kim Walls is our new cafeteria manager, in addition to Cindy Chastain and Karen Meadows as new cafeteria workers.
Book Rental Payment for student book rental was due the first day of school. Applications for textbook assistance and free/reduced lunch were sent home with students. These applications are to be turned in to the school office as soon as possible. You will be notified by Food Services after your application is processed. Students under the program last year are also required to re-apply by September 15, 2007.
No Early Birds Please Please remember that school begins at 9:00 a.m. Students who wish to participate in the breakfast program are to arrive no earlier than 8:40 a.m. All other students are admitted to the building at 8:50 a.m. |
Background Checks To help ensure the safety of our students, we are required to run a Criminal History Check on all volunteers, family members going on field trips, or any other volunteer that is planning on working in the school in any capacity, including classroom parties. These forms were sent home with your students on the first day of school. You must reapply every school year even if you applied last school year. Please complete these forms ASAP and return to the school office. No last minute checks will be made prior to the day of field trips or the day you plan to volunteer.
Absences Please call the school office by 9:15 a.m. if your child is absent from school.
Family Access The Family Access program will allow you to check your child's grades, lunch balances, and attendance. Please contact Nancy Brosman at the MSD of Martinsville Administration Office at 342-6641 to obtain an account number. There is no charge for this service.
Celebrations Students have the option of celebrating their birthdays at school. If your child wishes to celebrate, please make arrangements with their teacher prior to that day. Please choose treats that are nutritious and commercially prepared.
ISTEP+ Testing Third, fourth, and fifth grade students across the state will participate in ISTEP+ testing beginning September 17 - September 28, 2007. Attendance is very important. Please avoid scheduling appointments during this time. Food services is offering free breakfast to all students during this week on the days we test. |
