MSD of Martinsville Award Granted Through a new grant made possible from the Indiana Department of Education/Learn & Serve Indiana, the MSD of Martinsville will be able to engage K-12 students in service-learning to enhance academic achievement and civic responsibility. Service-learning programs in Martinsville schools hope to enhance learning, build character, and increase civic skills in students by combining service to the community with academic curriculum. For more information about service-learning in Martinsville, please contact Pat Barr, Family Service Coordinator at barrp@msdmail.net.
News from the Library The following are some quotes about reading by some famous and not-so-famous people. Some you may be familiar with. Read them over and make reading more a part of your child's life and your own this year! "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you know, the more places you'll go" Dr. Seuss "So please, oh please we BEG, we pray, go throw your TV set away; and in its place you can install a lovely bookshelf on the wall." Roahl Dahl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates loot on Treasure Island." Walt Disney "Reading will give you lasting pleasure." First Lady Laura Bush "Today a leader, tomorrow a reader." Margaret Fuller "TV. If kids are entertained by two letters, imagine the fun they'll have with 26. Open your child's imagination. Open a book." Author Unknown |
