Fall Pictures

The date for Fall Pictures has changed to Monday, September 10 due to ISTEP on September 17.  Individual pictures will be taken only for students who have pre-paid for their picture package.

Early Dismissal Days

As part of the school improvement process this year, we will be involved in professional development to help meet our goals of improving reading comprehension and writing process.  We will also work on improving mathematical problem solving.  Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. on the following dates:

October 2          November 14

January 31          April 10

Kindergarten will use their alternate schedule on these days.

Outside Doors

All outside doors are locked during school hours.  In order to enter the building, you must press a button to the right of the front door.  This will alert the office, and we will unlock the door.  EVERYONE must then check in at the office after entering the building to obtain a visitor's badge.  This is for the safety of our children.

Character Counts

Paragon Elementary and the Martinsville community have embraced the "Character Counts" program.  We want to build character through this program.  The six pillars of character are:  trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  These pillars will be used for our students and adults in making decisions.  During the month of September, we will discuss respect.

Library Books

Students are beginning to bring home library books.  Please help your child be responsible for keeping the book in good condition.  If the book is damaged, send it back to the librarian for repair.  Keep books in a safe location away from smaller children and pets.  Help your child remember to return library books on time.

Girls Basketball

Paragon's 5th grade girls basketball team will have two games on Saturday, September 8 at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.  All games will be at East Middle School again this year.  They are being coached by Mr. Bill Hinsley.

Team members from Paragon are:  Dakota Bivens, Lexi Sevigny, Tiffany Spurgeion, Vicky Vizcaya, and  Cheyenne Wigal.  Also, Savannah Collier, Whitney Colwell, Kaley Mosier, and Skylar Mullins from Central Elementary will be playing with our team due to both schools not having enough members for a full team.
