After-School Homework Help Program

Because homework completion is vital for students’ mastery of subject area content, West Middle School offers after school homework help to students who would like a supportive, supervised environment in which to work.  Our long-term goal is for students to improve their study habits and work ethic.

The Homework Help program, coordinated by Ann Smith, is available Monday through Thursday, from 2:30 to 4:00.  Because it is a structured program, students may not attend without enrolling, and if they enroll, they are expected to be present.

Anyone who is interested in joining Homework Help may print the enrollment form here (Adobe Reader required)  or obtain one from the school office.

Homework Help will meet on the dates highlighted in red on the calendar below:

Homework Help Student Expectations

1.      When school is over at 2:17, go to the bathroom if you need to, get your books from your locker, and report to the cafeteria before 2:30.

2.      Pick up the homework sheet for your grade at the front of the cafeteria.

3.      Sit in your assigned seat.

4.      Do not talk, please.

5.      On the homework sheet, underline your assignments.

6.      Start working first on your most difficult assignment.  Read the directions and examples carefully and try to begin the work on your own.  If you need help, raise your hand.

7.      When you finish each assignment, put a check mark beside the assignment on the homework sheet.

8.      Then, start the next most difficult assignment.

9.      When you finish all of your written assignments, read your AC R book.  (BRING IT WITH YOU EVERY DAY.)

10. Before you leave, show your supervisor all of your work.

11. Work that is finished may be put in your locker to take to your classes tomorrow.  Work that is unfinished must be completed at home.

12.  You must have a supervisor’s permission to leave the cafeteria.  Your supervisor will give you a pass.

We are happy to have students who work hard and follow the rules.  Students who do not follow the rules are subject to dismissal from the program.
