Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch, 5th period.  (You will bring your lunch in my room and eat while we practice.) The practices will start Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at lunch.  Starting in January, some after school practices may be necessary to get ready for the competitions.  These will be announced in advance.  Also, some outside work may be required to learn all the information.  Additional practices may be scheduled closer to the competitions.  If you are participating in math bowl, you should plan to attend all practices.  If there is a problem, please see Mrs. Meyer.

Competitions:

**The first competition will be a practice meet for all the MSD of Martinsville math bowl participants.  It will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at West Middle School gymnasium at 4:00 P.M.  All parents are welcome to attend.  All participants will stay after school and need transportation home from West Middle School after the competition which will end about 5:15 P.M.  More information will be sent home closer to the event.

**The second competition will be held at Neil Armstrong Elementary in Mooresville.  It will be on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 5 P.M.  The students will stay after school and ride the bus to competition.  Students may ride home with parents or ride the bus back to West Middle School after the competition.  More information will be sent home closer to the event.

There will be four teams with each being composed of a captain, two regular members, and an alternate.  The alternate can go into the competition after question 4.  There will be a total of seven questions in each round.  The questions get more difficult as the round progresses.  There is to be no talking or communicating with team members until after the "Begin."  However, you can start working on paper as soon as the question is revealed.  Calculators will be used and provided.
