Searching for Information  

Click on a topic from one of the General  Food Categories below.  This will take you to Culture Grams the World Kids Edition.

*  A box will appear asking for USER NAME (martwest), and PASSWORD (library).  Type the words inside the parentheses.

Click on a continent, and then a country within that continent (whose food you're interested in), and scan the colorful selections on the left.

On the Left, under Lifestyle, click on food, and find the most interesting sentence and write it in your notes (Interesting Facts section).

In the Search Box in the top right-hand corner of the same page, type in your food/a dash/name of the country.

*  Scan the results below and find specific information about your food history.  Write this information in your notes.

Write the web address in the Source section of your notes.

Multicultural Food History and Cookbook Project Instructions

Requirements
1.    Choose a favorite food, or ingredient that your favorite dish, to research (for example- bread, or just one ingredient like yeast).
2.    Write your name and the food you chose on the Notes page.  (No two people per class may choose the same food.)
3.    Take notes on the food you chose.  

4.    Find a recipe that includes your food, and type/insert it onto your own page.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               5.    This project will be published in a class cookbook, which we hope to get printed soon after all students turn in their Printed Page.

 

Researching Instructions:

·                    Open Internet Explorer

·                    Click on: Library/Online Units/Multicultural Food History & Recipe Book

·                    Click on , and scan through, the various topics the Food Choices Box 

·                    When you find the food you want to research, sign up with Mrs. Moss (each food can be researched by only one person)

·                    Take notes on the Food History Note Page

*    Click on Tools at the top of your screen.

*    Click on spelling and grammar.

*    Follow the directions in the little box.

*    Always re-read your work, because Spell Check isn’t perfect!

2.      OPEN FOOD SITES BY CLICKING ON ONE OF THE APPROPRIATE TOPICS IN BLUE

3.      READ THOROUGHLY, THEN TAKE NOTES  AND FILL IN THE FACTS ON THE LINES OF YOUR “NOTES” HANDOUT!

4.      FOLLOWING THE ATTACHED FORMAT, TYPE A PARAGRAPH (IN “WORD”) ABOUT THE HISTORY OF YOUR FOOD.

5.      FIND A RECIPE THAT INCLUDES YOUR FOOD AND EITHER TYPE IT UNDER YOUR HISTORY PARAGRAPH OR I WILL HELP YOU INSERT FROM THE INTERNET.
