WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL
PERFECT ATTENDANCE

  During the first trimester at West Middle School, there were 121 students who earned perfect attendance.  These students received a ribbon and special recognition and also had their picture taken together as a group; the picture will be hung in the hall at West Middle School.  Congratulations Perfect Attendance Students!

Every trimester West Middle School recognizes those high achieving students who have earned “Honor Roll” status for the 12-week period.   Honor Roll students are academic leaders in the classroom; they typically model good attendance, attitude, behavior, grades, and work ethic.  Being an Honor Roll student is a special accomplishment, and the West Middle School staff is truly proud of the students’ efforts and positive contributions to our school.

2009-’10  MATH  BOWL STUDENTS

  Order your West Middle School Yearbook in advance!  The 72-page, hardback keepsake can be ordered through Herff Jones at www.yearbookordercenter.com.  Enter 0532 as the order number or enter the school information.  Orders can also be placed by calling 1-866-287-3096, using a credit card; Mon. –  Fri.

8 A.M. – 5 P.M. Central time.  Yearbook prices range from $28 to $39, depending on name plate choices.  Yearbook DVDs may also be ordered for $10.  All orders will be available for pick-up in May, 2010, at the Yearbook signing party.  The order deadline is Wed. January 13, 2010.

ACTIVITY BUS ROUTES

  The Activity Bus runs each weekday, Monday through Thursday.

Paragon  

                Park by basketball courts at West Middle School at 4:25 P.M., leave at 4:30 P.M., goes to the high school and leaves the high school at 4:35 P.M.  Take West Middle School students for Brooklyn to their bus at the high school

                Follow Gray St. to Ohio, turn left and go to 37, cross 37, go through 37 at Burton Lane to Taco Bell and Southview Drive (if needed).  Return to 37 South.  Follow 37 to Legendary Hills, turn back north to motel, turn right and to Jordan Road, to Liberty Church Road, and back to 37.  Turn left and go to Old 37 (if there are students up toard the forestry, go to turn-around at State Police home and back to new 37) – if not, go up hill to Paragon Road.  Turn right and take Paragon Road to Paragon.  Stop at the IGA store and Paragon Elementary School.  Go back to 67 North, making stops along 67 North where necessary.  Go into Wigal Addition at Hynsdale, on down 67 and back to Martinsville.

 Centerton and Brooklyn

                Go to East Middle School at 4:25 P.M., leave at 4:30 P.M. and go to the high school.  Leave the high school at 4:35 P.M.

                Follow Gray Street to Garfield to the 39 Bypass, turn left to 67 North to Lake Edgewood through lower road to Wilber Road.  Turn right on Wilber Road to 67 North.  Go north on 67 (letting off students wherever they live along the highway), to Mason Lane.  Turn onto Mason Lane and go to Robb Hill Road, turn right to the Shell Station and Quick Mart.  Cross 67 to Centerton School (if no students live in Centerton, leave this stop off).  Go back to 67, north to Brooklyn.  Stop at the 4-way stop in the center of town, at the school.  At the 4-way stop north of the school.  Go back to 67, south and stop at Observatory Hill Road, if needed.  Go back to Martinsville.

 

Directions to other schools

Clark-Pleasant Middle School – Travel north on St. Rd. 37 to Hwy. 144, turn right.  Travel approximately 2.5 miles to 500 N (Whiteland Rd.), turn left.  Cross St. Rd. 31, turn left to enter the High School parking lot.  Stay left and drive around to the back of the parking lot to the Middle School.

Greenwood Middle School – Travel north on S.R. 37 to Smith Valley Road, turn right.  Travel to Madison Avenue, turn left.  The school is located on the right.

Perry Meridian Middle – Travel north on S.R. 37, turn right on Bluff Rd. (road north of County Line).  Travel to Stop 11 (stoplight), turn right.  Travel 1.5 miles to a 4-way stop.  Travel through the 4-way stop and the parking lot will be on the right. 

St. Charles, Bloomington  - Travel south on S.R. 37 to the College/Walnut exit.  Travel on Business 37 to the Hwy. 45/46 Bypass and turn left.  Travel past the IU campus to 3rd Street and turn right.  The school is approximately ½ mile down 3rd Street on the left.

CHOIR- the Christmas Concert, Band, Orchestra & Choir will be held Wed. Dec. 9, 7:00 P.M. in West’s gym.  Mrs. Shover is the Choir Instructor.

CIRCLE THE STATE-   Dec. 3, Altos, Dec. 10, Baritones, Dec. 17, Sopranos, meet at 2:30-3:30 P.M.  C.T.S. will participate in the winter concert, BNHS, Feb. 20, 2010.   Mrs. Shover is the sponsor.

CLUB-MID-  meets each Tues. & Thurs., 2:30-6:00 P.M.  Transportation is provided by the YMCA.  Robin McDaniel is the sponsor.  Applications are available in the cafeteria.

DRAMA CLUB-  students interested should meet Ms. Brinegar during Success, Mon. Oct. 5  Ms. Brinegar is the club sponsor.

DRUG-FREE CLUB-  meets once a month.  Mrs. McConnell & Ms. Forler are club sponsors.

ENRICHMENT- 6th gr., Group 1 will meet each Mon. during 8th period, room 10.  6th gr., Group 2 will meet each Monday, 2:30-4:00 P.M., in the Lecture room and 7th gr. will meet each Monday, during 5th period, room 8.  Mrs. Meyer & Mr. Smith are the Enrichment Sponsors.

GEOGRAPHY BEE-  will be held Wed. Nov. 25, in the West Lecture Room, A.M.  Mrs. Moss is the Geography Bee Sponsor.

I.D.T. CAMPUS CLUB-  will meet each Monday, 2:30-4:00 PM.  Robin McDaniel is the sponsor.  Mrs. Kempe, rm 18, is the class sponsor.

MOVIE CLUB-  BOYS ONLY – will meet Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2:25-4:00 P.M., to view  “G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra.”’  No charge to participate.  Mr. Lindsey, Counselor, and Mr. Allanson, Art teacher, are the sponsors.

NATIONAL JR. HONOR SOCIETY- Officers meet Dec. 8, during Success, and ALL CLUB members meet 2:30-3:30 P.M. on those days.  Mrs. Shover is the society’s sponsor 

STARS-  WILL NOT MEET, due to Thanksgiving Break  Mrs. McPike is the club sponsor.

STUDENT COUNCIL-  has begun their annual Toy Drive.  Students are encouraged to bring in new, unwrapped toys,.  Toys will be collected during Success class.  Mrs. Thatcher and Ms. Baldwin are the club sponsors. 

WRESTLING CONDITIONING- NO PRACTICE next week due to Thanksgiving Break.  Coach Tim Coryell is the sponsor.
