The WMS Choir program is open to any student who wishes to participate at the sixth, seventh, or eighth grade level.  Choirs practice as a class during the school day.  Several programs are performed for the school and community during the year.

In all three choirs, the students learn the life long skill of singing. The classes emphasize breathing, posture, listening, tonal development, and music reading and interpreting. We do this with breathing, posture, and singing exercises as well as daily sight singing.

In the daily sight singing, the students look at a different line of music every day. They learn to read the rhythm and sing the different tones. The students use the syllables:

Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do

Students have the opportunity to sing the sight readings by themselves 3 to 4 times each trimester.

Each choir concentrates on different aspects of harmony. The 6th grade choir works on unison and begins 2 part singing. The 7th grade choir works on 2 part and begins 3 part singing. The 8th grade choir works on 3 pt singing.

The choirs have many opportunities to perform. They have a Fall concert, Christmas concert, Choral Festival and a dancing-singing Spring concert. They also participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and Circle the State with Song. The 8th grade choir participates in a contest at King's Island or Kentucky Kingdom in the spring.
