General Art

General Art is a six week course required for everyone in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades and is taught by Mr. Ted Allanson.  Students will study various art forms and genres from artists all over the world.  Fridays are designated “art history days.”  On these days students will study artists from the past and present. Students apply historical knowledge and art production knowledge in their art making.  In each grade level, students will create both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art.   By the end of 8th grade, students will have had many experiences in painting, drawing, print making, clay modeling, plaster, weaving, collage, and much more.  Along with art production, students will be asked to think critically about artwork of their own and of others.  Lastly, students will learn about the many possibilities that the art world holds, in terms of a career.

* Students who show extra interest or talent in art making and/or art history may apply to be placed in Art Honors.  Art Honors is a twelve week course that delves deeper in to the art world.
