Special Olympics
Students in Mrs. Anderson's, Mrs. Shaffer's, and Ms. Wood's classes participate each year in the Special Olympics. Students practice all year long for the events. When the big day arrives, it begins with a parade with dignitaries from the community, school administrators, West Middle School band and the cheer/dance team. The West Middle School Student Council members and volunteers from Martinsville High School help with the events. The events include: foot and wheelchair races on the track, long jump, frisbee and softball throws. Everyone has a great time and everyone is a winner! The 2007 Special Olympics was held May 14, 2007.
